How the CMAT Advantageā¢ System Works
The CMAT Advantageā¢ utilizes proven volume plethysmography technology. Blood pressure cuffs are placed on the brachial arteries and ankles to simultaneously measure pressures, allowing for the calculation of the Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI). A specialized toe sensor assesses the digital arteries of the great toe for Toe-Brachial Index (TBI) calculation. The system further analyzes pulse waveforms to determine peripheral Augmentation Index (pAIx), Central Aortic Systolic Pressure (CASP), and brachial-ankle Pulse Wave Velocity (baPWV), providing valuable data on arterial stiffness and overall vascular health.
FDA-Cleared Component: TBL-ABI System Indications for Use
The ABI and PVR component inside CMAT Advantageā¢ is the TBL-ABI System, cleared by the FDA under 510(k) K173696 (LD Technology LLC, December 2017). That clearance covers the ABI and PVR measurements only. There is no single integrated CMAT Advantageā¢ clearance, and the toe-brachial index, pAIx, CASP and baPWV values the system reports are not part of it. The cleared indications for use read in full:
The TBL-ABI is indicated for use on adult subjects at risk of having or developing peripheral arterial disease (PAD). TBL-ABI is intended for rapid measurement of ankle-brachial pressure index (ABPI) or ankle-brachial index (ABI) in adults and pulse volume recording (PVR) / volume plethysmography in adults. It is suitable for use in wound care assessment, for assessing symptomatic PAD, and as a screening device for PAD. It may also be used on patients with venous or arterial ulcers prior to the application of compression therapy. TBL-ABI can be used on patients with unilateral lower limb amputation. The TBL-ABI System is intended to be used to spot-check patients. The TBL-ABI provides information regarding patient risk. The physician has the responsibility of making proper judgments based on this information.
